Bit of a slow start to the day! Gordo made it to breakfast (never keep a Gordon from their food) and Toot opted for a longer shower and more getting ready time after not much sleep last night due to jet lag!
Once we were on the road we headed for Fishermans Wharf via Chinatown and Lombard Street! We were in a hot pursuit for The Potsticker Restaurant for dumplings but Gordo screwed up the address so we will head back there before leaving San Francisco.
Again, the weather is beautiful and unfortunately our pasty skin paid the price today, both ending the day a little pinker than we started. Thank you Walgreens after sun gel. (there is a bloody Walgreen almost at every corner.....very thankful though). Also Penny thanks for the tip about Marshalls - a couple of purchases have already been made- oops!
We are starting to see the hilly nature of this city. After giving our calf muscles a work out we paid a local kid a buck for a glass of homemade lemonade from his stand. This kid is an entrepreneur. He has his stand at the bottom of the hairpin block that is Lombard Street. This is an east–west street in San Francisco, famous for having a steep, one-block section that consists of eight tight hairpin turns This is a tourist mecca spot and the kid would have cleaned up good and raked it in for the day! Although the kid had his stand at the bottom of the exciting part of this street, many tourists walk up a hill that is close to 90 degrees to get there. If you ask Toots calves, they say it was totally 90 degrees and then some.
Once we arrived at Fishermans Wharf we took some photos and headed to the Chowder Hut for our clam chowder served in a hot Bordain Sourdough Cob type roll. You will be pleased to know that we shared it so as to not end up the size of whales by the end of the trip.

After our chowder we did some walking around with a few more photos and then headed to get a cable car ticket to take us back to the hotel so we could get ready for the ball game. We bought our tickets at the Fishermans Wharf stand, however the line waiting for a car was close to an hour. We decided to walk a few blocks and some mega hills to pick the cable car up along the way. This certainly paid off as we ended up getting the party cable car (or so it seemed) and made it back to the hotel faster than if we waited in line. We may still be waiting now.

Once off the cable car it was less than a block to the hotel and on that block is a San Francisco Giants merchandise store. We picked up a top for the game each (so as to blend in, however that will change) and headed back to get changed and head to the ball game. After a 30 min walk from the hotel we arrived at the stadium and got our hot dog (super dog with mustard, ketchup and sweet pickle relish) and beer and made our way to our seats. We didn't really understand what was going on but we enjoyed ourselves none the less. Unfortunately the Giants didn't
win tonight, but it was close. Geez, the Americans really know how to entertain a crowd. The AFL could learn a thing or two. For example tonight was Fiesta Gigantes and sombrero night so we both have a complimentary Giants sombreros! They get the crowd involved by kiss cam, fist pump dancing, 7th inning stretch "dance off", karaoke against a per-recording with one of the Giant players (like sing star but live in front of 41,000 of your closest friends). Plus many more fun things...!
On completion of the game, we walked back to the hotel and applied some more aloe gel and now off to bed. Another big day tomorrow. We are off to join the Alcatraz swim team or triathletes (dig, dive, dash)!
Stay tuned!

Great choice buying that orange scarf for the flight - colour co-ordinated for the game, shame your team lost.

Elimination final weekend and full of upsets.
Port Adelaide won over Collingwood at the MCG, Carlton beat Richmond at MCG and Freo won against Geelong in Geelong. Happy days for me this week - until Sat night Sydney in Sydney!
